1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Race Car

This Trans Am was built for open road racing. This car participated in the Nevada Open Road Challenge, finishing First Place in the 150 mph class in 2014, Third Place in the same class in 2008 and Second Place in the 145 mph class in 2007. At the Silver State Classic Challenge, it placed First in the 150 mph class in 2006, 2009 and 2011. In the Big Bend Open Road Race, this car finished First place in the 140 mph class in 2010, Third place in the 145 mph class in 2013 and Second place in the 145 mph class in 2014. The owner of the vehicle has unfortunately passed away and his family is selling the car to handle some expenses.

The engine is a 380 cubic inch. Which is a 383 stroker that was not fully bored to 383 and runs at 9.5:1 compression. A Pro Charger D1SC super charger with intercooler helps up the power. Other additions include Comp Cams roller rockers, Holley intake, and AFR Heads. Keeping things cool is a Ron Davis radiator, remote oil cooler and a differential cooler. A Tremec 6 speed transmission was employed along with a Moser Ford 9 inch rear end to get the power to the ground. Not that you do much braking in these Open Road Races but braking is provided by Baer Brakes with slotted and drilled rotors. Inside a full race roll cage was added, along with Momo race buckets and 5 point harnesses.
